"Mark Thomas Murphy has been making up stories since fifth grade but only during the current century has he been writing novels. Keep Your Eyes Open was conceived back when the stories happened, waiting for their literary voice until about three years ago. Over most of his career, Murphy has been a working geologist, ‘making up stories’ about how volcanoes, rocks, and streams shaped the planet and created habitat. Geology and the environment still provide an income. He lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, close to his children and their families, after growing up in California and roaming through the Pacific Northwest, Arizona, and Hawaii. This is his second novel.
